Howard de Walden

Woldon successfully gained planning permission for the refurbishment and extension of a residential mews, within the Harley Street Conservation Area.

Designs include adding a second bedroom, re-proportioning living spaces and adding a basement extension, with minimal visual impacts on the facade. Existing openings have all been retained as part of the designs, and where new glazing is proposed within existing openings, these will be of traditional timber framed design.

As part of the works, sensitive fabric improvements are proposed to reduce energy demands and conservation style roof lights are proposed at roof level to maximise use of natural daylight. Proposed materials such as traditional timber framed glazing, are in line with the recommendations of the conservation area audit and secure continued use of the building and its continued positive contribution to the mews for the future.

Designs are currently out for tender, when construction is due to begin December 2019.
