Abbeville Road

Working with a charity client, Woldon were commissioned to design a high-quality housing scheme on the site of three disused garages in the Abbeville Conservation Area in Clapham.

The accommodation includes two, two-bedroom units with gardens, designed over three floors. Achieving the target of a two-unit scheme on such a compact site without compromising the quality of the internal spaces required an innovative design approach.

The proposed rooms are spacious, well-lit and offer a variety of spatial experiences. Externally, the facades are in brick, detailed to relate to the local surroundings in a sympathetic and contemporary manner. Working closely with the London Borough of Lambeth through the Planning process ensured that the proposals were developed to meet stringent policy requirements.
